I'm a bariatric and metabolic surgeon based in Cancún. I came back here to operate because the standard of care fits what I was trained to deliver — private surgical hospitals, and a recovery minutes from the Caribbean. I don't run a team you talk to instead of me. You get my number, and I'm the one who answers it.

The credentials you can verify yourself

The right question before any surgery abroad isn't "is this safe?" — it's "who is this surgeon, where do they operate, and what can I confirm before I get on a plane." Here's the stack a US patient can read at a glance, with the links to check it:

I'm also a member of the AMCG, AMCE, and CMCG.

Where I trained

M.D. (Médico Cirujano) at Universidad La Salle, 2011–2017. General Surgery residency at Hospital Médica Sur in Mexico City, 2019–2023. High Specialty in Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery at UNAM, Centro Médico Nacional 20 de Noviembre (ISSSTE), 2023–2024.

Where I operate

Five private surgical hospitals — not clinics, not same-day suites. In Cancún: Hospital Joya Cancún (hotel zone, minutes from the Caribbean), Hospital Amerimed Cancún, and Hospital Galenia Cancún. In Mexico City: Hospital Médica Sur — where I trained — and Hospital Ángeles Universidad.

What I do — nine procedures

I won't recommend a procedure I wouldn't choose for my own family. Each fits a specific patient profile.

Gastric SleeveManga gástrica · BMI 30+ without severe reflux
Gastric BypassRoux-en-Y · severe obesity + comorbidities
Mini-Bypass (BAGUA)One-anastomosis variant
SASISleeve + single ileal anastomosis
SADI-SStronger metabolic effect, higher BMI
Intestinal BipartitionSantoro technique
Spatz3 BalloonAdjustable · BMI 27–35
Allurion BalloonSwallowable · no anesthesia
Revision SurgeryAfter a prior procedure that didn't deliver

The aftercare team is named

Surgery doesn't end when you leave the OR — la cirugía no termina cuando sales del quirófano. My aftercare team has names: Isabel Murra and Mercedes Rullán for nutrition, Adriana Palacios for bariatric psychology. On surgery day, anesthesia with Gonzalo Guajardo and cardiology clearance with Sharon Valencia. The continuity comes from me, not a handoff.
